Characteristics

Folia mediocria vel parva; stipulae longae, subulatae, tomentosae; mox caducae; petioli tomentosi. sulcati; lamina ovata, cordata, acuminata, interdum obsolete triloba, margine grosse, irregulariter atque profunde dentata, dentibus majoribus saepe dentes ferentibus, paImati-7-9 nervia, subtus dense tomentosa, grisea. nervis prominulis, supra parce pubescens, griseo-viridis, nervis haud prominulis sed luteis. Flores axillares, apice ramorum conferti, solitarii; pedunculi tomentosi, parte superiore articulati; calyx extus tomentosus, intus pilosus, 5-lobatus, lobis profundis, acuminatis, trinervibus; petala aurea et basi violacea, calyce non multo longiora; columna staminalis petalis brevior; stigmata capitata, capite minimo violaceo. Fructus globosus, apice umbilicatus ca. 26-carpidiatus, calyce minor, tomentosus, junior viridis, senior nigrescens. Semen in quoque loculo unum evolutum, nigrum et granulis vel pilis minutis albis rugosum. Petioli 1-3.5 cm longi; lamina 2.5-5 cm longa et 2-4 cm lata; pedunculi floriferi 1-1.5 cm longi, fructiferi 1.7-4 cm longi; calyx ca. 1.2 cm longus; petala ca. 1.3 cm longa; columna stamin. ca. 0.5 cm longa; fructus ca. 0.6 cm longus et 0.9-1.3 cm in diam. latus.

Flowers 1-5 at branch tips and in upper leaf axils, petals whitish, yellowish, apricot or pink, sometimes darker red towards base, calyx bowl-shaped, carpels with 1 ovule.
