Characteristics

Rigid shrub 0.3–0.6 m high. Branchlets glabrous or sparsely appressed-puberulous. Phyllodes sessile, straight to recurved or shallowly serpentinous, terete to subterete, 2.5–4.7 cm long, 1.2–1.7 mm diam., pungent, rigid, glabrous, with c. 16 prominent raised (when dry), distant veins. Inflorescences simple, 2 per axil; peduncles 3–7 mm long, glabrous; heads globular, 3–4 mm diam., 12–20-flowered, golden; bracteoles spathulate. Flowers mostly 5-merous; sepals free. Pods linear, raised over seeds, undulate, to 5 cm long, 2–2.5 mm wide, thinly crustaceous, glabrous. Seeds longitudinal, ovate, 2.5–3 mm long, semi-glossy, dark brown-black; aril helmet-shaped, creamy white.
