Characteristics

Dense shrub to 1.5 m high. Branchlets glabrous. Phyllodes sessile, decurrent on branchlets, erect, straight, ± terete to slightly rhombic in section, 6–12 (–17) cm long, 1–1.5 mm diam., long-tapering pungent, rigid, glabrous except tomentulose adaxially at extreme base, closely striate-veined with veins at the 4 angles slightly broader than the rest. Inflorescences simple, commonly 2 per axil; peduncles 2–3 mm long, glabrous or puberulous basally; heads obloid, 6–9 mm long, 6 mm diam., densely flowered, golden. Flowers 5-merous; sepals ⅔–¾-united. Pods linear, slightly raised over and constricted between seeds, straight, to 9 cm long, 2–2.5 mm wide, coriaceous to crustaceous, longitudinally veined, glabrous. Seeds longitudinal, oblong to broadly elliptic, 2.5–3 mm long, glossy, mottled brown; aril translucent yellow.
