Characteristics

Dense rigid shrub 0.1–0.6 m tall. Branchlets ribbed and sometimes pruinose at extremities, glabrous. Stipules persistent, ascending to spreading, ±spinose, subulate to acicular, 0.5–1.5 mm long, rigid. Phyllodes ±continuous with branchlets but not forming cauline wings, spreading, strongly recurved, subterete to compressed, 10–20 (–25) mm long, 1–1.5 mm wide, pungent, rigid, ±glaucous at first, glabrous except nerves micro-papillose, prominently 8‑nerved, 3-nerved per face when compressed. Inflorescences simple, 1 per axil; peduncles 8–12 (–14) mm long, glabrous; heads globular, 4–6 mm diam., 26–31-flowered; bracteoles spathulate, ±acuminate, dark brown, evident in buds. Flowers 5-merous; sepals free. Pods narrowly oblong, strongly raised over seeds, straight, to 3.7 cm long, 4–7.5 mm wide, ±chartaceous, glabrous. Seeds transverse, broadly elliptic, c. 2.5 mm long, dull, tan with ±darker mottling; aril subapical, crested.
