Characteristics

Bushy shrub 3–4 m high. Branchlets finely ribbed, appressed-puberulous, glabrescent except at nodes. Phyllodes narrowly linear, 12–19 cm long, 1–2 mm wide, delicately acuminate and innocuous, not rigid, with appressed brown resin-hairs at first, glabrescent, with 3 distant raised veins. Inflorescences 1–5-headed racemes, sometimes appearing simple; raceme axes 0.5–2 mm long, appressed-puberulous; peduncles 9–13 mm long, glabrous to appressed-puberulous; heads globular, ± 4.5 mm diam., ± 25-flowered, pale yellow to light golden. Flowers 5-merous; sepals free. Pods linear, flat, slightly raised over and irregularly constricted between seeds, to 10 cm long, 5–7 mm wide, ± chartaceous, glabrescent; margins thickened. Seeds longitudinal, elliptic to elliptic-oblong, 4–4.5 mm long; funicle filiform, gradually thickening to a slight aril.
