Characteristics

Shrub 2–4 m tall, occasionally a tree to 10 m. New shoots glabrous. Branchlets glabrous. Phyllodes narrowly linear to oblanceolate, flat to terete, (1.5–) 2–10 (–13.5) cm long, 1–6 (–7) mm wide, shortly acuminate with a delicate, curved point, usually green to grey-green, sometimes scurfy, glabrous, 4-nerved in all, 1-nerved per face when flat, nerves not prominent and often ±impressed. Inflorescences 2–4 (–6)-headed racemes; raceme axes commonly 1–4 mm long, sometimes reaching 12–17 mm, sometimes growing out at anthesis; peduncles 3–10 mm long, glabrous; heads globular to shortly obloid, (22–) 25–60 (–74)-flowered, golden. Flowers 5-merous; sepals mostly free or very shortly united. Pods linear, to c. 15 cm long, 3.5–7 (–8) mm wide, coriaceous or sometimes ±crustaceous, glabrous. Seeds longitudinal, oblong to elliptic, 4–6 mm wide, dull to slightly shiny, dark brown to black, funicle 2–3-folded, entirely encircling the seed, dark reddish; aril clavate.
