Tree 3–13 m high. Branchlets pendulous, lenticellate, glabrous. Phyllodes narrowly elliptic to oblanceolate, often slightly inequilateral, straight or slightly incurved, 9–17 cm long, 13–45 mm wide, obtuse or acute, thinly coriaceous, glabrous, with 3–6 main veins and longitudinally anastomosing minor veins in between; gland 0–2 mm above pulvinus. Inflorescences simple or rudimentary 1-headed racemes with axes to 1 mm long, 2–6 per node; peduncles 4–7 mm long, sometimes to 12 mm in fruit, glabrous; basal bract persistent; heads globular, 4.5–5 mm diam., 30–40-flowered, golden. Flowers 5-merous; sepals free. Pods linear, alternately raised over seeds on each side, straight, to 12 cm long, 8–11 mm wide, coriaceous, glabrous; margins thickened. Seeds longitudinal, broadly elliptic, c. 4 mm long, dull, brown; funicle/aril encircling seed.
Grows along sandy creek or river banks or on shell mounds in fringing woodland with species of Melaleuca, Leptospermum, Eucalyptus and other Acacia species.
