Characteristics

Slender shrub to 3 m high. Branchlets pendulous, angled at extremities, soon terete, glabrous. Phyllodes linear-elliptic to linear-oblanceolate, incurved, 8–12 (–15) cm long, 3–8 mm wide, narrowed towards base, acute to gradually-or abruptly-acuminate (with mucro to 2 mm long), thinly coriaceous, glabrous, with 3 indistinct to slightly raised main nerves and normally with few rather obscure anastomosing minor nerves in between; gland 0–2 mm above pulvinus, 1 or 2 additional glands often present. Inflorescences simple or rudimentary 1-headed racemes with axes 0.5-1 mm long, 2–4 per axil; peduncles 3-5 mm long, to 9 mm in fruit, glabrous; basal bract persistent; heads globular, 4.5–5 mm diam., 20–30-flowered. Flowers 5-merous; sepals c. ½-united. Pods linear, alternately raised over and slightly constricted between seeds, to 9 cm long, 8 mm wide, thinly coriaceous, ±pruinose, glabrous, faintly reticulate, marginal nerve evident. Seeds (immature) longitudinal, exarillate; funicle thickened throughout its length.
