Characteristics

Shrub or tree to 6 m high. Branchlets glabrous or very sparsely appressed puberulous. Prickles absent. Stipules caducous. Leaves bipinnate: petiole 2.5–5.5 cm long, glabrous or sparsely appressed hairy, eglandular; rachis 3–7.5 cm long, glabrous or sparsely hairy, eglandular; pinnae (3–) 4–8 (–9) pairs, 2–5.5 cm long; pinnules 6–21 pairs per pinna, ±oblong, (3–) 4–8 mm long, 1.5–3 mm wide, discolorous, glabrous or sparsely appressed-hairy on margin. Inflorescences simple in fascicles of 3–5 in the upper axils, or forming leafless terminal panicles; peduncles (7–) 10–15 (–20) mm long, glabrous or sparsely appressed-puberulous; heads obloid to short cylindrical, 15–30-flowered, pedicellate, white or sometimes creamy white. Flowers 5-merous; calyx 1 mm long, sinuolately lobed, glabrous; corolla 2.5–3 mm long. Pods narrowly oblong, 4.5–8 cm long, 1–1.5 cm wide, straight, glabrous, chartaceous, stipitate. Seeds transverse, elliptic, to 3.5 mm long, dark brown; areole distinct.
