Characteristics

Leaf blades 3–10 × 1.5–3 cm, narrowly elliptic-lanceolate or lanceolate, the lowermost sometimes obovate, acute at the apex (the lowermost usually obtuse), serrate on the margins, tapered or rounded at the base, chartaceous, sparingly setose with bulbous-based hairs on the upper surface, more evenly pubescent beneath, drying dull brown, ± penninerved with 9–10 pairs of lateral nerves, fairly prominent beneath, tertiary nerves closely parallel.

Female flowers solitary or in pairs in the axils of the upper leaves, sessile; bracts c. 4–5 × 6 mm when mature, palmatifid, c. 20-fid to halfway, the segments 1.5–3 mm long, linear-lanceolate to subulate, alternately long and short, pubescent, eglandular, 1-flowered.
Female flowers: sepals oblong, minute, acute, pubescent; ovary c. 1 mm in diameter, globose, densely fulvous-tomentose; styles 3–8 mm long, free, pectinately lacinulate, minutely puberulous, red.
