Characteristics

A medium sized bushy tree. It grows up to 10-25 m high and spreads 5-10 m across. The young shoots are hairy. The leaves are 4-9 cm long by 1-2 cm wide. They have very fine teeth along the edge. The leaves are smooth on top and hairy underneath. The flowers are 1.5 cm long and white. They are bell shaped. The petals are toothed at the edge and the edges are hairy. The flowers occur in stalked clusters in the angles where leaves join the stem. These stalks are about 1 cm long. The fruit is about 2.5 cm long. The fruit is fleshy and it has a woody layer around the seed. There is a single seed.

Environment

It is found in rainforests normally at high elevations. They require well drained soils and plenty of water. It occurs in north east Queensland. It grows between altitudes 610-1200 m.
