Characteristics

Plants robust, 300-800 mm tall; leaves imbricate, conduplicate, linear, acute, coriaceous, to 300 x 15 mm, grading apically into narrowly lanceolate papery 80 mm long sheaths. Inflorescences branched, to 300 mm long, laxly many-flowered; bracts less than half as long as the pedicels. Flowers not resupinate, c. 10 mm in diameter, petals and sepals brownish, lip dull yellow; pedicels plus ovaries c. 10 mm long. Sepals spreading, sub-equal, narrowly oblong, rounded to obtuse-apiculate, 6-7 x 2.5 mm. Petals narrowly elliptic, rounded to obtuse-apiculate, 6-6.5 x 3 mm. Lip very broadly obovate, often recurved, margins up-curved and crenate, 6-9 x 6-7 mm, disc with 10-20 slender tall papillae; spur conical, 1 mm long. Gynostemium with a stout, 3 mm tall column-part, foot developed into a pair of knobs obscuring the entrance to the spur; stipes c. 1 mm long; rostellum beaked.
