Plants 150-500 mm tall; leaves often in a basal fan, conduplicate, keeled, linear-lanceolate, acute, to 200 x 15 mm, margins finely denticulate, grading into several papery, narrowly lanceolate, acute cauline sheaths. Inflorescences usually simple, occasionally with several branches, laxly many-flowered; bracts often at least as long as the pedicels. Flowers at least 15 mm long, sepals and petals green to purplish-brown, lip midlobe white and side lobes purple; pedicels plus ovaries 12-15 mm long. Sepals equal, spreading, lorate, acute, 13-20 x 3-4 mm. Petals hooding the gynostemium, with reflexed apices, narrowly oblong, acute, 13.5-17 x 4-5 mm. Lip narrowly obovate, 3-lobed, 15-18 x 8 mm, disc with 5-7 rows of papillae; midlobe rounded to obtuse, somewhat recurved, margins crenulate; side lobes rounded, porrect, 1.5-2 mm tall; spur 3-5 mm long, slender to clavate, emarginate to bilobed. Gynostemium with a slender and laterally flattened, 8 mm long column-part, foot expanded into 2 knobs; anther cap 1.5 mm wide, with 2 prominent lateral horns; stipes short.
