Characteristics

Plants 250-600 mm tall; leaves imbricate, conduplicate, keeled, coriaceous, linear, margins smooth or finely denticulate, to 300 x 15 mm, upper leaves grading into the dry cauline sheaths. Inflorescences branching, laxly many-flowered, to 300 mm long and with up to 5 branches; bracts less than half as long as the pedicels. Flowers c. 7 mm in diameter; pedicels plus ovaries 5-10 mm long. Sepals and petals purplish green or brown, lip white, side lobes purplish. Sepals subequal, acute, apiculate; median sepal lorate to narrowly oblong, 5 x 2 mm; laterals oblique, narrowly ovate, 4-5 x 1.5-3 mm. Petals narrowly oblong, obtuse-apiculate, 4 x 2-2.5 mm. Lip distinctly 3-lobed, 4-6 x 5-6 mm, disc with 3 rows of erect papillae; midlobe transversely obovate to square, truncate, margins crenulate; side lobes rounded, porrect, 1-2 mm tall; spur saccate, 1.5 mm long, rounded, entrance obscured by flaps of tissue. Gynostemium with a 1-2 mm tall, stout column-part.
