Dioicous. Green-pale green. Stem to 6 cm long, sparsely branched, 120 µ in diameter, cortical cells with very thick walls. Numerous flagellae. Leaves small, the length twice the breadth of the stem, ovate, entire or with a pair of small apical teeth. Cells in the upper margin about 18 µ, in the lower margin up to 27 x 36 µ, walls very thick. Oil bodies few, 4 x 6 µ, compound. Amphigastria small, subquadrate, with apex truncate and crenulate. Perianths in short ventral branches, arising from the axil of an amphigastrium, fusiform-cylindric, exceeding the bracts, mouth contracted, irregularly lobate and ciliate-dentate. Bracts in 3 pairs, increasing in size towards the perianth, inner bract 2/3 as long as the perianth, shortly bilobate, apices of lobes acute, margins sparsely dentate. Cells in the perianth and the inner bracts elongate, up to 20 x 60 µ, walls moderately thickened, also in the other bracts are the cells larger than in the leaves, but smaller than in the inner bracts.
