Characteristics

Shrub to 3 m high. Branchlets fawn-tan, glabrous. Leaves chartaceous; petiole 3–8 mm long, black-green; lamina length/petiole length ratio 7.4–16.8; lamina elliptic, obovate, oblanceolate, rarely orbicular, 20–90 mm long, 11–50 mm wide, base attenuate to cuneate, margin flat, tip acute, obtuse or rounded, midrib below strongly raised at lamina base (height less than width), venation with tertiary vein orders distinct, lower surface pale green and glossy. Male flowers: pedicel 4–7 mm long; sepals 1.8–2 mm long; petals absent; disc 5-angled. Fruit depressed-globose to subglobose, 3-lobate, 12–17 mm long, 10–13 mm diam.
