Characteristics

Dioicous, large-medium sized, rigid, erect-suberect, green-brown, growing on growing on wet rocks. Stem to 16 cm long, dark brown, with apes curved towards the ventral side, with numerous short stolons. Leaves transversally inserted, obliquely ovate, base narrow, upper margin arcuate, incurved and entire, lower margin rounded and strongly dentate, teeth increasing in size towards the apex, apex rounded. Marginal cells about 18 µ, cells in the centre of the leaf 18-24 µ. Amphigastria lacking. Perianth apical, oblong-elliptical, mouth constricted, multilobate, lobes spinous. Interior bracts reniform, entire with acute or bilobate apex. Bracteole free. Androecia in short branches, bracts crowded, monandrous.
