Leaf blades pale green, not punctate beneath, entire to deeply (2–)3(–5)-lobed, oblong-lanceolate to broadly ovate or suborbicular in outline, base rounded to cordate or hastate, top acute, up to 1.5 cm. acuminate, 4–17 by 2.5–16 cm., ± pinninerved or 3–5-nerved from near base; lobes triangular to oblong, 1–12 cm.; margin entire or irregularly sinuate; petiole 1.5–9 cm.. Glands at blade base 2, separate or contiguous, either on 2 small separate auricles lateral at the top of the petiole, or on the 2–6 mm. wide peltate blade-base; blade glands 2–20, submarginal or ± scattered; marginal glands minute, 0–4.. Stipules narrowly triangular, ± 1–1.5 mm., withering.. Inflorescences peduncled for (0.5–)1–5 cm., 1–5(–10)-flowered in male, hermaphrodite and female; tendril (0–)1, 2–6 cm.; sterile tendrils up to 10 cm.. Male flowers infundibuliform, including the ± 5 mm. long tapering stipe ± 22 mm.; hypanthium cup-shaped, ± 2.5 by 2.5–3 mm.; calyx-tube 9–10 by ± 5 mm., lobes triangular-oblong, 5–6 mm.; petals obovate-oblong, ± 4.5–5 mm., 3-nerved, serrate, not long-fimbriate, inserted about half-way in the calyx-tube ± 4.5 mm. above the hypanthium; filaments ± 7 mm., connate for ±1.5 mm.; anthers 3–3.5 mm., obtuse, inserted at the base of the hypanthium; septa ±1.5 mm. high; corona ± 0; disk glands ±1.5 mm.. Hermaphrodite flowers infundibuliform, including the ±10 mm. long tapering stipe ± 30 mm.; hypanthium including calyx-tube 12–13 mm., ± 8 mm. wide at throat; calyx-lobes ovate-oblong, obtuse, entire, ± 8 mm.; petals linear, 1–1.5 mm., 1-nerved, entire, inserted 7–8 mm. above the base of the hypanthium; filaments 7–8 mm., connate for ±0.3 mm., inserted at the base of the hypanthium; anthers 1.5–2 mm.; septa ±0.3 mm.; corona 0; disk glands ± 2 mm.; pistil see female flowers.. Female flowers ± infundibuli-form, including the 1.5–2.5 mm. long stipe 10–15 mm.; hypanthium cup-shaped, 0.5–1.5 by 2 mm.; calyx-tube 4–5 by 2–5 mm., lobes triangular to oblong, subacute, 3–6 mm., entire; petals linear, 1.5–3 mm., 1-nerved, ± serrulate, inserted 0.5–3 mm. above the base of the hypanthium; stami-nodes ± 2 mm.; septa up to 1 mm. high; corona 0 or consisting of minute hairs ±0.1 mm.; disk glands 0; gynophore 2–5 mm.; ovary subglobose to ellipsoid-oblong, 3–7 mm.; styles connate for 0.5–1 mm., style-arms ± 0.7–1.5 mm.; stigmas subreniform, laciniate, woolly-papillate, each ± 2.5 mm. in diameter.. Fruits 1 per inflorescence, ellipsoid to subglobose, excluding the 8–10 mm. long gynophore 3–5 by 2.5–5 cm.; pericarp coriaceous, spongy inside.. Seeds ± 40 per capsule, subglobose, ± 5 mm.
