Characteristics

Shrub with upright habit, up to 4·5 m. high.. Stems much branched, leafy, densely pilose, ultimately with the cortex flaking off longitudinally.. Leaves densely arranged on short shoots; leaflets subequal, oblanceolate-elliptic, up to 8(–12) mm. long, acute, densely pilose beneath, sparsely so above, or glabrescent, with the edges often incurved; petiole shorter than the leaflets.. Stipules small or inconspicuous, densely pilose.. Inflorescence dense, 6–20-flowered.. Calyx shortly pilose; upper lip ± 6 mm. long, with the lobes deltoid or curved upwards; lower lip ± 8 mm. long, with narrowly linear lobes.. Petals yellow; standard suborbicular, ± 8 mm. in diameter, with a short claw, shortly pilose on the back; wings and keel about equal in length to the standard; keel obtuse at the apex.. Stamens ± 9 mm. long.. Ovary densely appressed pilose; style glabrous; ovules 3–7.. Pod oblong, straight with a short downward pointing beak, ranging from 25 × 6 mm. to 18 × 7mm., sparsely pilose or glabrescent, rough with projecting glands.. Corolla yellow; standard shortly clawed, the limb c. 8 mm in diameter, ovate to subcircular, retuse at the apex, sericeous on the back; wings slightly shorter than the standard, narrowly clawed, the limb oblong, asymmetrical at the base, with series of folds between the upper veins; keel ± as long as the wings, much incurved, obtuse at the apex.
Leaves usually densely arranged on short shoots, more spaced along the young shoots; leaflets subequal, up to 8(12) × 4(5) mm, oblanceolate to elliptic-obovate, acute or subacute at apex, cuneate at base, often with the edges incurved, usually densely sericeous beneath, sparsely so above; petiole shorter than the leaflets; stipules small.
Calyx silky-hirsute; upper lip c. 6 mm long, deeply 2-lobed with the lobes triangular-ovate; lower lip longer than the upper one, deeply 3-lobed with the lobes narrowly triangular to linear.
Pod up to 24 × 7 mm, narrowly oblong, straight with a short downward pointing beak, compressed, sparsely pilose or sometimes glabrescent, rough with glandular tubercles.

Stamens c. 9 mm long; anthers glabrous, the long ones 0.6 mm long and the short ones 0.2 mm long.
