Inflorescences terminal and axillary, much shorter than the subtending leaves, 5–7 cm long, often branched, 2–7 cm long; greyish or fulvous silky pubescent; peduncles less than 1 cm long; pedicels 4–7 mm long; bracts 5–8 × 2–6 mm, obovate, glabrous inside, mostly soon falling; bracteoles 5–6 × 2 mm, linear-lanceolate, deciduous.
Standard crimson turning to deep mauve, almost black or carmine-red (fide Wilczek), sometimes white, 13–15 × 13–16 mm, rounded obovate, auriculate and with 2 calli.
Calyx tube 3.5–5 mm long; lobes 5–7 × 2.5 mm, lanceolate, the lowest the longest, the upper pair joined for half to two-thirds their length.
Pods up to 8 × 1.8 cm, falcate-oblanceolate, pubescent and with scattered glands and glandular hairs.
Multi-stemmed shrub 1–2 m tall with angular finely pubescent to glabrescent stems.
