Erect shrub 0·9–1·8 m. tall.. Stems woody, dark brown, ridged or distinctly angular, at first with adpressed hairs, later with only a minute pulverulence and some glands; internodes often long; some shoots flower before the leaves appear.. Leaflets 3, narrowly elliptic to ovate-elliptic, 3·5–11·5 cm. long, 2–5·5 cm. wide, subacute at the apex, mostly rounded at the base, pubescent and minutely tuberculate above, glandular and densely to velvety pubescent beneath but the closely reticulate raised venation is not entirely obscured; petiole 1·5–5 cm. long; rhachis 0·5–1·6 cm. long; petiolules 3–6 mm. long; stipules soon deciduous.. Panicles branched, subsessile, terminal and axillary, up to 11 cm. long and 7 cm. wide, densely pubescent; pedicels 5–7 mm. long; bracts ovate, deciduous, 5–7 mm. long, 4–5 mm. wide; bracteoles linear, 2·5–8 mm. long, at length deciduous.. Calyx densely pubescent and glandular; tube 4–5 mm. long; lobes lanceolate, 5–8 mm. long, the upper pair completely or almost entirely joined.. Standard white with greenish veins or mauve, rounded or rounded-quadrate, 1·4–1·8 cm. long, 1·4–1·6 cm. wide.. Style shaped like a golf club, the apex dilated and bent over.. Pod oblanceolate-falcate, 4–5·5 cm. long, 0·8–1·4 cm. wide, pubescent and glandular, and with raised wrinkles.. Seeds black, irregularly elliptic, compressed, longest dimension 10 mm., shorter dimension 8 mm., 4 mm. thick, minutely pitted; hilum small, grooved; rim-aril obsolete.
