Characteristics

Perennials with erect or decumbent branches up to 0.2 m long, usually little branched, with fibrous roots. Leaves oblanceolate to linear-oblanceolate, rarely obovate, (8-)10-35(-50) x 6-16(-20) mm, more or less abruptly cuneate, rounded, obtuse or rarely acute or mucronate, dorsiventrally flattened and with horny margin towards apex, green, greyish green to greyish brown and without dark spots. Inflorescence a thyrse with one to several monochasia each with 1-3 flowers, 0.2-0.3(-0.4) m long, grey-green to green; pedicels 4-20(-25) mm long. Buds terete and slightly longitudinally grooved, gradually tapering towards apex, erect. Calyx 2.5-4 mm long, grey-green. Corolla with funnel-shaped tube 18-21 mm long, grey-green; lobes ovate-triangular, 4-6 mm long, acute, rough and with club-shaped trichomes around throat, white to pink and with or without mauve to deep plum-coloured median band. Anthers included. Squamae oblong, 2.2-3 x 0.8-1.2 mm, emarginate, often slightly broadened towards base. Flowering period: January-March (April).
