Characteristics

Perennials with short erect branches up to 0.1 m high, much branched from base, with fibrous roots. Leaves oblanceolate-oblong to oblong-spathulate, rarely narrowly obtriangular, (25-)40-65(-90) x 10-20(-30) mm, cuneate to petiolate, usually with obtuse to truncate and often undulate apex, dorsiventrally compressed to almost terete, green to grey-green with or without darker or purple spots. Inflorescence a spike-like thyrse with 1-flowered cymes, 0.25-0.4 m long, grey-green to almost white with a thick bloom; pedicels 1-2(-3) mm long. Buds terete but slightly longitudinally grooved, gradually tapering towards apex, at first erect, later somewhat spreading. Calyx 1.5-2.5 mm long, grey-green. Corolla with cylindrical tube 9-11 mm long, pale pink and with a thick bloom; lobes lanceolate to lanceolate-triangular, 3-4.5 mm long, sharply acute, with club-shaped trichomes mainly towards throat, pink often deep red towards margins and apices. Anthers included. Squamae oblong to almost square, 1-1.3 x 0.9-1.1 mm, emarginate, slightly broadened towards the middle.
