Characteristics

Perennials with short erect branches 20-50(-80) mm long, usually with a few rosettes, covered with fine aerial roots and with fibrous roots at base. Leaves obovate or oblanceolate-triangular, oblong to oblong-elliptic, (15-)20-40(-52) x 5-13(-18) mm, cuneate to petiolate, usually truncate or rounded, sometimes broadened, terete to somewhat dorsiventrally compressed and with usually undulate terminal horny margin, sometimes covered with glandular hairs, usually glabrescent or glabrous, green to grey-green often with darker markings. Inflorescence a spike-like thyrse with 1-flowered cymes, 0.1-0.2 m long, grey-green; pedicels 1-2 mm long. Buds terete but with longitudinal grooves, gradually tapering towards apex, at first erect later somewhat spreading. Calyx 1.5-3 mm long, grey-green. Corolla with a cylindrical tube 10-12 mm long, grey green; lobes ovate-triangular, 2-3.5 mm long, acute, rough and with club-shaped trichomes in throat, white tinged pink and with darker line along exposed margin. Anthers 0.6-0.9 mm long, included. Squamae about square, 1-1.2 mm long and broad, scarcely emarginate, broadest at middle or below.
