Characteristics

Perennials with much branched carnose base with numerous short branches up to 10 mm long, rarely up to 80 mm long when in shade but then only 3-4 mm in diameter. Leaves obovate to orbicular, rarely elliptic, (6-)8-12(-14) x 6-9(-11) mm, cuneate, with rounded apex, dorsiventrally flattened with indistinct pale horny margin at apex, green to greyish brown often tinged red towards apex but without purple markings. Inflorescence a spike-like monochasium with 1.2(3) flowers, 70-150 mm long, green; pedicel 5-10 mm long. Buds terete to fusiform, gradually tapering towards apex, erect. Calyx 2-3.5 mm long, green to reddish brown. Corolla with a funnel-shaped tube 12.5-14 mm long, pale yellowish green; lobes ovate-triangular 2.5-3.5 mm long, acute, rough and with club-shaped trichomes mainly around throat, white except for a deep mauve line on outside along middle vein of each petal. Anthers 2-2.1 mm long, included. Squamae oblong, 1.8-2.1 x 0.7-1 mm, deeply emarginate, slightly constricted towards base. Flowering period: (November) December.
