Characteristics

Perennials with decumbent branches up to 0.2 m long, little branched, with fibrous roots. Leaves oblanceolate to elliptic, 20-40(-50) x 8-15(-20) mm, cuneate, acute to obtuse dorsiventrally compressed, concave above, convex below, softly herbaceous and without horny margin. Inflorescence a spike-like thyrse with 1-3(-5) flowers, 0.2-0.3 m long; pedicels 10-15 mm long. Buds terete to slightly longitudinally grooved, gradually tapering towards apex, erect. Calyx 4-5 mm long. Corolla with a cylindrical to slightly broadened tube 10-13 mm long; lobes ovate-triangular, 3-4.5 mm long, acute with club-shaped trichomes around throat. Anthers included. Squamae oblong, 1.8-2 x 0.6-0.8 mm, usually deeply emarginate, scarcely constricted towards base.
