Characteristics

Perennial succulent, branched with decumbent or prostrate branches ± 0.35 m high, with flaking bark; stilt-roots stiff. Leaves lanceolate, terete, 20-50 x 5-10 mm, apex acute, rarely with purple spots, fragile, easily shedded. Inflorescence a spike-like thyrse, 0.20-0.35 m long with 1-3-flowered cymes, green tinged brown. Buds terete, abruptly constricted towards apex, spreading. Corolla with cylindrical tube 10-13 mm long, yellowish green, tinged brownish red; lobes broadly triangular, 1-2 mm long cuspidate, rough without trichomes, white to pale yellow, tinged pink or mauve with mauve mucro. Squamae square to transversely oblong, emarginate. Flowering time Dec., Jan.
