Characteristics

Perennials with little branched, decumbent to prostrate stems up to 0.2 m long, with fibrous roots. Leaves oblanceolate-spathulate, 20-28(-32) x 15-25 mm, cuneate to subpetiolate, obtuse or rounded and sometimes mucronate, dorsiventrally flattened and with horny margin usually beyond the middle, grey-green sometimes tinged brown and usually without purple spots. Inflorescence a spike-like thyrse with 1(2)-flowered cymes, 0.2-0.3 m long, grey-green; pedicels (l-)2-3(-4) mm long. Buds terete, gradually tapering towards apex, spreading. Calyx 1.5-2.5 mm long, grey-green. Corolla with cylindrical tube 9-12 mm long, greyish green; lobes elliptic-triangular, 2-3.5 mm long, acute, rough and with club-shaped trichomes mainly towards throat, white often tinged pink and with deep mauve line along margin. Anthers enclosed. Squamae about square, 1-1.2 mm long and broad, emarginate, broadest at the middle or below.
