Characteristics

Perennials with sparsely branched decumbent stems up to 0.15 m long, with fibrous roots. Leaves linear-lanceolate, 20-40(-50) x 5-11 mm, usually abruptly cuneate, acute, slightly dorsiventrally compressed to almost terete, with horny margin restricted to apex, grey-green or sometimes tinged brown, usually without purple spots. Inflorescence a spike-like thyrse with 1(-3)-flowered cymes, 0.25-0.35 m long, grey-green; pedicels 1-3 mm long. Buds terete, gradually constricted towards apex, erect to spreading or slightly curved towards apex. Calyx 2-3 mm long, grey-green. Corolla with cylindrical tube 11-13 mm long, greyish green; lobes triangular-lanceolate, 4-5 mm long, acute, rough and with club-shaped trichomes mainly in throat, white often tinged pink and with mauve line along margin. Anthers included. Squamae about square, 0.8-1.2 x 0.7-1 mm, slightly emarginate, broadest at about the middle.
