Characteristics

Perennials with short fleshy stems up to 40 mm long, little branched, with several fleshy roots. Leaves obovate, rarely orbicular or broadly elliptic, (6-)8-14 x 4-9(-11) mm, abruptly cuneate, rounded to truncate, dorsiventrally compressed but somewhat convex or slightly concave above, usually with horny margin near apex, grey-green to brown and without purple markings. Inflorescence a thyrse with 1(-2) cymes each with 1-2(3) flowers; pedicels 8-18 mm long. Buds fusiform and slightly grooved longitudinally, gradually tapering towards apex, erect. Calyx 2-3 mm long, grey-green. Corolla with funnel-shaped tube 11-14 mm long, grey-green; lobes ovate-triangular, 2-3 mm long, usually bluntly acute, rough and with club-shaped trichomes around throat, white often tinged pink with mauve along central vein. Anthers included. Squamae oblong, 1.5-1.7 x 0.5-0.6 mm, deeply-emarginate, scarcely constricted towards base.
