Characteristics

Perennials with short erect stem 20-50 mm long, sometimes with lateral suckers, with fibrous roots. Leaves oblanceolate to elliptic, (15-)20-30(-45) x 4-8(-13) mm broad, cuneate, usually acute, dorsiventrally compressed and without horny margin, concave above, convex below, green to grey-green and without darker markings. Inflorescence a thyrse with several monochasia each with 1-5 flowers, 0.2-0.35 m long, green; pedicels 15-35 mm long. Buds terete and slightly longitudinally grooved, gradually tapering towards apex, more or less pendulous. Calyx 3-5 mm long, green. Corolla cylindrical to slightly broadened from middle to form a funnel-shaped tube 18-20 mm long, orange-red; lobes ovate-triangular, 3-5 mm long, acute, papillose in lower parts; deep orange-red with yellow around throat. Anthers scarcely protruding. Squamae oblong, 2-2.3 x 0.9-1 mm, emarginate, scarcely constricted towards base.
