Characteristics

Perennials with decumbent or scrambling branches up to 0.25 m long, much branched mainly from base, with fibrous roots. Leaves oblanceolate, rarely obovate, 30-55(-60) x 14-20(-25) mm, cuneate, usually acute, dorsiventrally flattened and with horny margins usually up to the middle, pale green to yellowish green with a moderate bloom and irregular reddish spots present or absent. Inflorescence a spike-like, thyrse with 1(-2)-flowered cymes, 0.15-0.25 m long, white; pedicels 4-6 mm long. Buds terete and slightly longitudinally grooved, gradually tapering towards apex, at first erect, later spreading. Calyx 2-3 mm long, white. Corolla with cylindrical tube 9-11 mm long, apple-green and covered with a thick bloom; lobes lanceolate-triangular, 3-4 mm long, acute, rough and with club-shaped trichomes in throat, pale yellow often tinged pink. Anthers included. Squamae transversely oblong, 1-1.3 x 1.3-1.6 mm, slightly emarginate, broadest at about the middle.
