Characteristics

Perennials with decumbent or prostrate stems up to 0.2 m long, little branched, with fibrous roots. Leaves oblanceolate-spathulate or obtriangular, rarely oblanceolate-rhombic, 30-50(-70) x (10-)15-25 mm, cuneate to shortly petiolate, usually truncate, rarely obtuse, dorsiventrally compressed to somewhat convex on both sides and with horny margin usually restricted to upper half, grey-green to greyish brown with or without purplish red spots mainly restricted to upper half. Inflorescence a thyrse with 1-3(-5)-flowered cymes, (0.18-)0.25-0.35 m long, grey-green; pedicels (1-)2-4(-6) mm long. Buds terete, gradually tapering, distinctly curved towards apex, spreading. Calyx 1.5-2 mm long, grey-green. Corolla with cylindrical tube 8-10 mm long, yellowish green; lobes lanceolate-triangular, 3-5 mm long, acute, rough and with club-shaped trichomes mainly towards throat, white or slightly tinged pink with deep mauve line along margin. Anthers included. Squamae square to oblong-ovate, 0.9-1.1 x 0.7-0.9 mm, emarginate, broadest at about the middle or below. Flowering period: (November) December, January.

Flowers in a spike-like, usually unbranched inflorescence; corolla tube 8-10 mm long, yellow-green, lobes 3-5 mm long, with minute, club-shaped hairs in throat.
