Characteristics

Annual herb, erect, branched, 0.2-0.5 m tall; stems glabrous to hispidulous. Leaves sessile or shortly petiolate; blade lanceolate to elliptic or ovate-lanceolate, 30-40 x 8-15 mm, glabrous to hispidulous, apex obtuse to rounded, base cuneate, margin subentire. Inflorescence a fairly dense panicle; flowers secund, single, closely placed, subsessile; bracts ciliate, elliptic, acute, 2.5-3 mm long, overlapping towards the apex. Calyx hispidulous, 1 mm long at flowering, enlarging to 2.5 mm long. Corolla blue to purple, 4-5 mm long. Nutlets ovoid or oblong, smooth.
