Characteristics

Leaves 10–54-foliolate; leaflets 5–20 × 1.5–6 mm, elliptic or elliptic-oblong, obtuse, rounded or mucronulate at the apex, obliquely rounded at the base, glabrous; main nerve central, lateral nerves prominent, all reaching the margin and joining to form a distinct marginal nerve; petiole and rhachis together 2–9.5 cm long, at first with a few sparse hairs but soon glabrous; petiolules up to 1 mm long; stipules 5–10 × 1–3 mm, linear-lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, not appendaged at the base, glabrous, deciduous.

Inflorescences terminal and axillary, lax and many-flowered, 8–25 cm long; peduncles 4–7 cm long; pedicels 5–9 mm long; bracts 3–4 × 2–2.5 mm, elliptic, entire, very deciduous; bracteoles 2.5–3 × 1–1.5 mm, elliptic, mostly emarginate and mucronulate, at length deciduous.
Standard yellow or orange, 9–10 × 3–4 mm, elliptic-oblong, emarginate; wings exceeding the keel which is not laciniate; filament sheath very much shorter than the fruit stipe which is 8–11 mm long.
Calyx glabrous, 2-lipped; one lip 4.5–6 × 5–5.5 mm, rounded-ovate, emarginate, the other 5–6.5 × 4–5 mm, ovate-oblong, shortly 3-fid.
Subshrub 20–45 cm tall with long fusiform secondary roots; young stems glabrous or nearly so, rarely pubescent.
Fruit of 1 article, 14–18 × 10–12 mm, broadly elliptic or semicircular, flat and papery, glabrous, reticulate.
