Characteristics

Leaves and petioles reduced to a linear vestige, 2–4.5 × 0.5–0.75 mm, cuspidate, minutely pellucid-punctate, 1–3-nerved, with margins hyaline and minutely setulose near the apex, mostly deciduous; or sometimes leaves 12–16-foliolate, c. 10 mm long with leaflets 3–4 × 0.5–0.7 mm, linear-oblong; stipules thick, congested, 2.5–5(7.5) × 1–1.5 mm, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, cuspidate, slightly convolute, 4–7-nerved, pellucid-punctate between the nerves and with minutely setulose hyaline margins, unappendaged.

Inflorescences axillary, lax, 1–3-flowered, 10–15 mm long, pubescent with tubercular-based hairs; peduncle 3–5 mm long; pedicels 2–3 mm long, setulose; bracts mostly clearly 3-fid, 3 × 1.5 mm, ovate-elliptic, margins smooth or sparsely ciliolate, deciduous; bracteoles 2.5–3 × 1.5 mm, ovate to lanceolate, margins smooth or sparsely ciliolate, deciduous.
Branched shrub 0.3–1.2 m tall; young shoots densely covered with short bristly mostly tubercular-based glandular curved hairs; old shoots grey-brown or purplish, glabrescent, ridged.
Fruit of 1–2 articles joined by a narrow neck, each article elliptic, 5–7 × 3.5–4 mm, compressed, sparsely setulose, the margins thickened.
Standard yellow, lined with brown, 9–11 × 4.5–8 mm, obovate; wings and keel yellow, the petals of the latter not laciniate.
Calyx glabrous, 2-lipped; lips 6 × 4–5 mm, oblong-ovate or ovate, upper acute, lower minutely 3-toothed.
Seeds purplish-brown, 3.5–4 × 2–3 mm, asymmetrically semicircular; hilum minute, asymmetrical.
