Leaves fasciculate, 18–26(40)-foliolate; leaflets 1.5–3.5 × 0.5–0.7 mm, linear-oblong, acute and mucronulate at the apex, obliquely rounded at the base, rather thick, imbricated, pubescent or glabrous, ciliolate; main nerve eccentric but not marginal, other venation prominent; petiole and rhachis together 4–8 mm long; petiolules minute; stipules 3 × 0.5 mm, lanceolate, acute, not appendaged, striate, at length falling.
Inflorescences axillary, usually aggregated and forming a terminal panicle; peduncle 3–12 mm long; rhachis 1.5–5 cm long; pedicels 3 mm long; bracts 2-fid, 3.5 × 2 mm, ovate, striate, pubescent, soon deciduous; bracteoles 5.5 × 1.5 mm, lanceolate, ciliolate, at length deciduous.
Fruit of 1 or 2 articles joined by a narrow neck; articles 7.5–10 × 5.6–7 mm, elliptic, with upper edge almost straight and lower edge strongly curved, compressed, margined, glabrous, reticulately venose, later minutely verruculose.
Standard yellow or orange, sometimes lined with purple or red, 12–15 × 5–11 mm, violin-shaped; wings yellow or orange; keel petals green or yellow, not laciniate.
Calyx slightly pubescent, 2-lipped; lips 7–10 × 2.2–5 mm, ovate or oblong, one slightly to deeply emarginate, the other slightly 3-fid.
Stems at first pubescent with viscid tubercular-based hairs, sometimes peeling to leave a roughened surface.
Seeds brown, 5 × 3.5 × 1.5 mm, ellipsoid-reniform, compressed; hilum small, round, eccentric.
Erect branched shrub 1.2–3(?4.5) m tall.
