Rhizomes extensive, 6-8 mm. in diameter; scales coriaceous, reddish brown, ± 3.5 × 1.5 cm.. Leafy shoots 2-3 m. tall.. Leaves narrowly elliptic, acuminate, somewhat asymmetrically rounded to cuneate at base, 25-33 × 4.5-8 cm., pubescent on the midrib beneath; nerves 22-27 per 5 mm. beneath, 20-23 per 5 mm. above; ligule coriaceous, rounded, sparsely pubescent, 3-6 mm. long.. Inflorescences 2-3-flowered, borne on the rhizomes between the leafy shoots; peduncles 3-5 cm. long, the bracts broadly ovate, retuse and mucronate at the apex, sparsely appressed pubescent, and ciliolate at the apical margin, the apical ones up to 3.5 × 3 cm.. Calyx spathaceous, 4-5 cm. long, split ± 1.5 cm. at one side.. Corolla white; posterior petal oblong, concave, ± 5.5-6 × 2.5-2.8 cm.; laterals narrowly triangular, ± 5.5 × 0.5 cm.. Labellum white with a basal yellow patch, 9-10 cm. long, the free portion suborbicular, ± 6 cm. diameter.. Free filament ligulate, ± 3 cm. long; anther subterminal, ± 15 mm. long, the basal 10 mm. dehiscent; apex 3-lobed, the terminal lobe oblong, rounded or retuse, 6-7 × 4 mm., the laterals narrowly triangular, ascending, ± 6 mm. long..
