Characteristics

Shrub to 60 cm high. Stems glabrous, setose or scabrous, the bark becoming corky. Leaves often clustered, linear to lanceolate, obtuse or uncinate, 1–4 cm long, serrate, dentate or entire, almost flat, pubescent or almost glabrous; stipules acuminate, up to 3 cm long, sometimes leaf-like. Flowers solitary; peduncles 3–10 mm long. Sepals lanceolate, acute, 3–6 mm long, keeled or ridged, pubescent, ciliate. Petals orange to yellow, the anterior spathulate, 7–15 mm long, 7–10 mm wide; posterior petals linear, 3–5 mm long; lateral petals lanceolate-falcate, 3.5–6.5 mm long. Anterior 2 filaments with glabrous or pubescent nectaries, the posterior 3 shorter. Capsule 5–9 mm long. Seeds 5–10, cream, smooth or pitted.
