Much-branched shrub; branchlets stout, shortly hairy with branched red-brown hairs.. Leaves opposite or subopposite; petiole 6–16 mm. long; lamina coriaceous, ovate-elliptic, rarely obovate, 5–9 cm. long, 3–5.5 cm. wide, obtuse or rounded at the apex, cuneate at the base, rather densely puberulous with branched hairs when young, glabrescent except on the nerves, with 6–8 pairs of main lateral nerves, the second–third rather strongly ascending.. Umbels mostly 4-flowered; peduncle 1–2 mm. long, glabrous to puberulous; pedicels 3–4 mm. long, densely puberulous; bract-limb ovate-triangular, 2.5 mm. long.. Receptacle 2 mm. long, puberulous.. Calyx 0.5–0.7 mm. long, truncate.. Corolla 5.5–6 cm. long, lemon-yellow, with orange-red tip in bud, puberulous (hairs 0.5 mm.); apical swelling of buds truncate, 4 mm. across, 5-winged; basal swelling ellipsoid, 6–8 mm. long; lobes erect, 1 cm. long, upper half expanded, hardened inside, strongly keeled outside.. Stamens inflexed; tooth 0.7 mm. long; anthers 3–4 mm. long.. Style with a neck 3 mm. long; stigma capitate, 1 mm. across.. Berry not seen.
