Stems spreading to 1 m. or more; branchlets slightly flattened, pubescent with short spreading hairs, the longer ones branched, red-brown and shed first, gradually glabrescent.. Leaves alternate to opposite; petiole 5–15 mm. long; lamina thinly coriaceous, slightly glossy, narrowly lanceolate to ovate-elliptic, 6–14 cm. long, 2–5 cm. wide, acute to obtuse at the apex, cuneate at the base, soon glabrous except sometimes near the base; lateral nerves 4–8 pairs, mostly obliquely ascending (uppermost more spreading).. Umbels 6–12-flowered; peduncle 3–5 mm. long and pedicels 4–5 mm. long, both densely short spreading puberulous; bract-limb ovate-triangular, 2 mm. long.. Receptacle 2.5 mm. long, puberulous.. Calyx 0.7–1 mm. long, toothed.. Corolla (4.5–)5–5.5 cm. long, red, banded yellow around vents, with darker red tip, minutely puberulous on bud-head and thinly pubescent with short branched hairs on tube; apical swelling of bud oblong-ellipsoid, ribbed; basal swelling ovoid-ellipsoid, 6–8 mm. long, 4–5 mm. in diameter, narrowed above for 5–7 mm.; lobes erect, 9–11 mm. long, the upper part linear-elliptic, 5–6 mm. long, 0.8–1 mm. in diameter, hardened inside, slightly keeled outside.. Stamens inflexed; tooth 0.2–0.5 mm. long; anthers 2–3 mm. long.. Style with a neck 2–3 mm. long; stigma capitate, 0.8 mm. across.. Berry not seen.
