Characteristics

Corolla 4–4.8 cm long, rich red or crimson with a yellow band around vents, darkened at tip, puberulous on bud head (lobes) and with longer spreading hairs on the constriction of the tube, very sparsely so elsewhere; apical part of bud 3 × 2 mm, slightly ribbed; basal swelling 5–6 × 3–4 mm, ovoid-ellipsoid, with tube narrowly constricted for 3–4 mm above; lobes erect, 8 mm long; upper expanded part 3–4.5 × 1 mm, lanceolate, hardened inside, slightly keeled outside.

Leaves opposite or subopposite; petiole 6–11 mm long, pubescent; lamina thin, 5–8 × 1.2–2 cm, lanceolate, acute, glabrous, with c. 8–10 pairs of lateral nerves, the main ones strongly ascending.
Umbels 8–12(or more)-flowered; peduncle 3–5 mm long; pedicels 2–3 mm long, both brown pubescent; bract 1.5–2 mm long, narrowly ovate, pointed or truncate, umbonate, pubescent.
Stamen filaments inflexed; tooth minute (c. 0.2 mm long); anthers 2.5–3 mm long.
Shrub; flowering branchlets rather long, compressed at first, brown pubescent.
Receptacle plus calyx urceolate, pubescent; receptacle 1.5–2 mm long.
Style with a neck 2–3 mm long; stigma 0.7–0.8 mm across, capitate.
Calyx 0.5 mm long, toothed.
Berry not seen.
