Characteristics

Corolla 4–4.5 cm long, yellow to orange with red tip, uniformly and conspicuously hairy with mostly fine spreading hairs; apex of bud 3.5–4 × 2.5 mm, oblong-ovoid to obovoid, ribbed; basal swelling 4–5 × 3.5–4 mm, ovoid-globose, with tube constricted above for 3–4 mm; lobes erect, 7–9 mm long, upper expanded part lanceolate, 3.5–5 × 1 mm, hardened inside and thickened proximally, slightly keeled outside.

Leaves mostly subopposite; petiole 5–15 mm long; lamina green or grey-green, rather thin, ovate to ovate-lanceolate, pointed, ± slightly acuminate, basally rounded to slightly cordate, 2.5–11 × 1.2–6 cm, densely pubescent, glabrescent except on midrib beneath, with 1–2 pairs of principal lateral nerves strongly ascending from near the base.
Spreading shrub extending to 2 m, with relatively short lateral flowering branches bearing smaller leaves near their base; branchlets densely covered with very short and longer wispy hairs up to 2 mm long.
Umbels 8–16-flowered; peduncle and pedicels 2–3 mm long, densely pubescent; bract limb 1–2 mm long, ovate-triangular.
Stamen filaments inflexed; tooth 0.5 mm long; anthers 2–3 mm long.
Style with a neck 2–3 mm long; stigma 0.7–9 mm across, capitate.
Berry red, 10 × 7 mm, obovoid, pubescent.
Calyx 0.5–0.7 mm long, slightly toothed.
Receptacle 1.5–2 mm long, densely hairy.
