Well-branched shrub; branchlets slightly compressed, densely pubescent with short stiff spreading hairs; older branchlets glabrescent, grey, cracked, inconspicuously lenticellate.. Leaves opposite and subopposite; petiole 5–15 mm. long; lamina slightly fleshy, dull green, lanceolate to oblong-elliptic, ovate or broadly elliptic, 5–9 cm. long, 3–5.5 cm. wide, pointed to rounded at the apex, cuneate to rounded at the base, glabrous except on the prominently raised lower part of midrib beneath, with 6–8 pairs of lateral nerves, the lower ones more ascending.. Umbels 8–16-flowered; peduncle and pedicels 2–4 mm. long, densely pubescent; bract-limb ovate-triangular, pointed or truncate, 1.5–2.5 mm. long.. Receptacle 1.5–2 mm. long, glabrous to densely puberulous.. Calyx 0.3–0.8 mm. long, shallowly toothed.. Corolla 3.5–4.2 cm. long, greenish yellow to orange-red, tipped brownish red, pubescent with small irregularly arranged hairs; apex of buds narrowly ellipsoid, 4–5 mm. long, 2–2.5 mm. in diameter, pentagonal; basal swelling ovoid-ellipsoid, 5–7 mm. long, 3.5–4 mm. in diameter, constricted for 3–4 mm. above; lobes erect, 8–9 mm. long, the upper dilated part linear-elliptic, (4–)5–6 mm. long, 1–1.5 mm. wide, slightly keeled on lower part outside.. Stamens inflexed; tooth 0.3–0.5 mm. long; anthers 2.5–3 mm. long.. Style with a neck 2.5–3 mm. long; stigma capitate, 1 mm. across.. Berry not seen.
