Glabrous shrub; twigs slightly compressed, becoming terete.. Leaves alternate to opposite; petiole 3–10 mm. long; lamina ovate to oblong-lanceolate or elliptic, 4–12 cm. long, 2–7 cm. wide, obtuse at the apex, broadly cuneate to rounded at the base, with 3–4 ascending nerves on each side.. Umbels several, sessile in the axils, 2–3-flowered; sockets obliquely cupular; bract cupular with a small triangular limb, 2–4 mm. long.. Receptacle 1.5–3 mm. long.. Calyx campanulate to tubular, 3–5 mm. long, slightly toothed, ciliolate, sometimes unilaterally split as the base of corolla swells.. Corolla 4.5–6 cm. long, tube red, lobes yellow to orange over vents, with dark red to almost black tips; bud-tip not swollen; base of tube scarcely to slightly swollen at maturity, obovoid-fusiform, 8–9 mm. long, 3 mm. in diameter, the tube sometimes narrowed above for 5–10 mm. in diameter, then slightly flared; lobes erect, 8–10 mm. long, the upper two-thirds to three-quarters linear-lanceolate, slightly hardened inside.. Filaments inflexed to once coiled, paler, hardened, the slightly expanded tip 1.5–2 mm. long; tooth 0.2–0.5 mm. long; anthers 2–3.5 mm. long.. Style slightly broadened upwards, grooved, narrowed to a neck 2–3.5 mm. long; stigma capitate, 0.8 mm. across.. Berry not seen.
