Characteristics

A small palm. It can have a single stem or several small ones. The stem is up to 2 m tall. It is 6 cm across. It has grey black spines. These can be 6 cm long. There are 10-12 leaves. They are erect and curve over. They have a sheath 30 cm long and these have spines. The leaf stalk is about 100 cm long and green. There are 11-14 leaflets on each side and these are in different planes and in groups. The flower stalk comes from among the leaves and curves.
