Stipules brown, membranous or sometimes a little herbaceous at the apex, terminally dentate or rarely entire, ± obscuring the stems of young branches, glabrous but for long hairs on the margins, or with a few similar hairs on the lamina.. Leaves petiolate, reniform-rounded, 3–5-lobed, the base truncate to very widely cuneate, up to 1.3 cm. long by 2.3 cm. broad, usually glabrous or nearly so above, covered beneath (rarely above) with silky hairs; lobes broadly oblong, terminally truncate-rounded, often rather shallow, seldom exceeding half the radius of the lamina, the central one 3–7-dentate, and the lateral lobes usually slightly smaller and 3-toothed; petiole up to 5 mm. long, covered with hairs..
