Characteristics

A mat-forming, low-growing shrub up to 1 m. high, largely similar to the preceding but differing in leaf-shape.. Main branches woody, up to 35 cm. long, red-brown, covered by stipules.. Lateral branchlets short, 4–5(–10) cm. long.. Stipules ± ovate, red-brown, membranous, transversely wrinkled, glabrous to densely hairy (especially on the edges) with long white hairs.. Leaves bluish-green, sessile or nearly so, undivided, obovate, broadest below the apex, 9–14 × 4–7.5 mm. at maturity, apically rounded in outline, toothed, with teeth 0.5–1 mm. deep, otherwise entire, basally cuneate, varying from glabrous, leathery and dark bluish-green to copiously hairy with long white hairs on both surfaces, the upper surface green, the lower silvery..
