Characteristics

Caules plerumque singulares vel etiam bini parte dimidia superiore ramosi remote foliati 2-2.5 mm diam. longitudinaliter sulcati. Folia sat tenuia; basalia rosulata: petioli 1-3 cm longi subplani; lamina (6-)8-12 cm longa lanceolata basi anguste cuneata marginibus pro-funde irregulariter lobato-dentata lobis acuminatis ciliatis et dentibus minoribus cilialis munita ciliis interlobalis inflexis praedita; folia caulina: pauca lanceolata sessilia. Capitula ± longe pedunculata; bracteae involucrales 10 basibus connatae, 5 majores segmentis liberis 4 mm longae ovatae subacutae-obtusae obscure nervosae, 5 minores ca 2 mm longae acutae. Sepala 0.6-0.7 mm longa triangularia acuta; petala 1 mm longa; staminum filamenta 0.7 mm; antherae 0.4-0.5 mm ovoideae; mericarpia 2.2-2.3 mm longa 1.6-1.8 mm crassa dense verrucosa; styli 1 mm longi.

Perennial herb, up to 0.2 m high, when in flower up to 1 m high; rosulate at base. Leaves similar to those of A. serrata, but margins lobed, secondary teeth superimposed on at least some primary teeth, apparently glaucous. Flowering time midsummer.
