Characteristics

Planta 20-50 cm alta; caulis 1-2 mm diam. sulcatus ad apicem vel saltern parte superiore erecto-patentim ramosus durus ± dense foliatus. Folia subcoriacea subtus obscure reticulato-venosa marginibus integra vel leviter denticulato-serrata setis 3-6 mm longis et pilis 1-2 mm longis interjectis ciliata; folia basalia rosulata; laminae ovatae-obovato-oblongae apicibus rotundatae-subacutae basin versus sat abrupte vel sensim in petiolum 1-2 cm longum planum attenuatae; folia caulina amplectentia longe (7-8 mm) setoso-ciliata adpressa inferiora 2-3 cm longa superiora minora. Bracteae involucrales 5 basibus ad 1/3 longitudinis connatae partibus liberis ovato-triangulares 4-6 mm longae obtusae-apiculatae interdum praeterea 5 minores ad 1 mm longae; sepala 0.4-0.5 mm longa triangularia; styli 1-1.2 mm longi.
